Physical Therapy for Fertility/Infertility
Infertility affects 6 to 11% of women in the United States.
Some causes for infertility include elevated levels of Fallopian Stimulating Hormone, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Premature Ovarian Syndrome, Endometriosis, blocked Fallopian Tubes, and unexplained infertility. Regardless of the cause, this condition is challenging both physically and emotionally.
How Can Pelvic Physical therapy Help?
Using manual therapy my aim is to improve the mobility of soft tissue structures in the pelvis, including the reproductive organs. My intention is to improve circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid to aid in the treatment of both structural and hormonal causes of infertility.
A recent study demonstrates the efficacy of manual physical therapy in reversing female infertility attributed to:
- Occluded Fallopian Tubes
- Hormonal Dysregulation
- Unexplained Infertility
In addition, manual physical therapy has been shown to increase successful in vitro cycles (IVF).
My gentle treatment approach may include:
- Myofascial Release
- Visceral Mobilization
- Trigger Point Release
- Strain/Counter-Strain Technique
- Myofascial Decompression
- Scar Tissue Mobilization
- Soft Tissue Mobilization
